Sonya Gordon, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Sonya Gordon is an ACVIM Diplomate in Cardiology, Professor of Cardiology and Eugene Ch’en Chair in Cardiology at Texas A&M University  College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science. She has published manuscripts, book chapters and a textbook. Her interests and expertise in teaching have led to many invitations to organize and participate in continuing education events for veterinarians and veterinary cardiologists globally. These opportunities, coupled with her involvement in multicenter international studies, have provided her with a global perspective of veterinary cardiology. Dr. Gordon considers College Station, Texas home and shares her life with her husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

Kathy Spaulding, DVM

Board Certified Radiologist

Dr. Kathy Spaulding grew up on a dairy and grain farm in southern Indiana. She obtained her DVM degree from the Purdue University and was in a mixed practice for 6.5 years following graduation.  

Kathy completed a 3-year radiology residency at the University of Tennessee and became a board certified Radiologist in the ACVR. She was a faculty member radiologist at Michigan State for 2 years, a tenured professor at North Carolina State University for 20 years and finished her teaching career in 2016 after another 13 years at the Texas A&M.  

Dr. Spaulding has over 70 published papers, 20 book chapters and has given over 100 seminars to veterinarians all over the world. Her favourite facets of imaging include abdominal and vascular  

ultrasound. Kathy is now recently, fully retired from the practice of veterinary medicine.

Lisa Radosta, DVM DACVB

Behavioral Medicine

Dr. Radosta graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine  

in 2000. She completed a residency in Behavioural Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. During her residency, she was awarded the American College of Veterinary Behaviourists Resident research award two years in a row.  Dr. Radosta is the owner of Florida Veterinary Behaviour Service, a specialty behaviour practice in southeast Florida and co-owns Dog Nerds, an online  educational resource for owners whose pets have behaviour disorders. She is a coauthor of Behaviour Problems of the Dog and Cat, 4th edition and From Fearful to Fear Free. She is a contributing author for Blackwell’s Five-Minute Veterinary Consult, Blackwell's Five-Minute Veterinary Consult Clinical Companion:  Canine and Feline Behaviour, Decoding your Cat, Canine and Feline Behaviour for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses and Feline and Small Animal Pediatrics.  She has published research and review articles in many veterinary and behaviour journals and has served on the Fear Free Executive Council and the AAHA Behaviour Management Task Force.

Becky Valentine, DVM

Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Valentine was born and raised in Calgary and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.

 

After completing a rotating small animal internship at Ontario Veterinary College in 2002, Becky spent several years as an emergency veterinarian before returning to school to complete a residency in dermatology at the OVC. It was during her residency that she came to understand the profound impact that skin diseases and allergies can have on a pet and their family. She became board-certified in Veterinary Dermatology in 2015, and has made a huge difference in the lives of pets and their owners ever since.

 

Becky’s interests include the treatment of antibiotic resistant skin infections and the diagnosis and management of allergic dermatitis in small animals and horses.

Theresa Collins-Nelson

Theresa is a Certified Business Coach and former Technical Sales Representative with a career spanning 30+ years and is passionate about Workplace Wellness. She decided to put her many years of experience and Relationship building skills to use by offering much-needed help to small and medium-sized businesses around Winnipeg and across Western Canada. With a keen sense of observation and the ability to build trust, she offers support and guidance to business owners, managers, and employees on the topics of Mental Health Awareness; Effective Communication; Conflict Resolution; and Improvement of Workplace Culture.

Theresa attended the University of Saskatchewan for one year, then went on to attain a Diploma in Veterinary Technology (formerly Animal Health Technology) in Saskatoon. Throughout her career she has done numerous professional development and certificate courses including Mental Health First Aid; Effective Communication and Conflict Resolution; Improving Workplace Culture and basic HR and management courses. She recently became certified as a Workplace Health & Performance Ambassador. Theresa also attained a certificate in the Indigenous Studies Course at the University of Alberta. She offers small group coaching, team coaching and training, external HR support and consulting, as well as several workshops.

She has two adult children and resides in Winnipeg with an assortment of four legged critters.

Connie Mosley, DVM

DR MED VET, DACVAA, CVA

Dr. Cornelia (Conny) Mosley is a boarded anesthesiologist that works as an anesthesiologist and provides care for chronic pain patients in her Integrative Pain Clinic. She graduated from the University of Leipzig in Germany and completed her thesis in Munich. She completed an anesthesia internship in Glasgow, Scotland and a residency in anesthesia and analgesia at the University of Washington and Florida, where she developed her long-time interest in anesthesia and analgesia of non-domestic species. Conny has held faculty positions at North Carolina State University, Oregon State University and Ontario Veterinary College. She has a strong interest in pain managements (perioperative, postoperative as well as chronic pain) and in particular in the different integrative approaches to pain relief. Conny is certified in acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Florida, and she applies Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) principles to her patients, including Chinese Herbal Medicine. In Conny’s Integrative Pain Management Service, she helps to improve the quality of life of patients experiencing chronic pain. Dr. Mosley is also the founding director and vice president of the Canadian Association of Veterinary Cannabinoid Medicine (https://www.cavcm.com/) an organization that helps understand, educate and collaborate in research in cannabinoid medicine and its role in veterinary medicine. Through this organization, Conny has played a crucial role in the field of cannabinoid veterinary medicine in Canada. 

In her spare time, Conny enjoys her two busy daughters, her even busier husband and all of their pets out in the country. Of all her pets, her Large Münsterländer `Birko’ is her favorite. She enjoys a historic novel when there is time to relax.

Helen Newton, DVM

BSc, DVM,

Veterinary Communications Manager

Dr Newton obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a focus on Cellular Development, prior to pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada.  She then spent 4 years in general small animal practice just outside of Houston, Texas, where she was bitten by a travel bug.  She spent the next 3 years doing locum work in Australia and Finland, including assisting with research at the University of Helsinki and volunteering in a dental specialty practice just outside of Turku, Finland.  All of her clinical experiences lead to her discovering a passion for nutrition and in 2015 she joined Nestle Purina PetCare Canada.  She enjoys assisting her fellow general practitioners navigate complex medical histories to find appropriate diet choices for their patients.  She also loves presenting information to veterinary teams in a relatable and relevant form, to help them convey nutritional information to their clients and ultimately benefit the health of their pet patients.
